Don’t risk the fruit fly fine

As the school holidays get closer there’s more warnings fruit fly still poses a significant threat to the Riverland.  

PIRSA are calling on travellers to pack wise and not risk a fine by moving restricted produce.

General Manager of the Fruit Fly Response, Jason Size, said holiday travel presents an increased risk of spreading Queensland fruit fly to new locations.

Travelers are reminded that Random fruit fly roadblocks and inspections may be conducted throughout the school holiday period, in addition to normal operations at the Yamba Quarantine Station.

Fines for breaking fruit fly restrictions increased this week to $423.
