Legendary Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen has taken to social media to share a heartfelt tribute after the devastating death of Juha Miettinen. Miettinen died on Sunday at the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit in Germany after a horrific crash that involved seven cars in the opening moments of the race. A statement issued to all drivers said:
“Following the collision between several vehicles, race control immediately halted the race to allow for extensive recovery and rescue operations… Despite the immediate arrival of emergency services, the emergency medics were unable to save the driver involved, Juha Miettinen, after he had been extracted from the vehicle; the driver died at the Medical Centre after all attempts at resuscitation proved unsuccessful.”
The other drivers were immediately taken to hospital and after careful examinations none others were left in life-threatening conditions. Max Verstappen after this accident has taken to Instagram to post a tribute to Juha Miettinen.
