Singer Lizzo has taken to social media to share her reaction to a new South Park episode that lampoons her body positivity message. The “About Damn Time” singer, 36, posted an entertaining video of herself watching the show and providing commentary in real-time.
“Guys, my worst fear has been realised,” she announced on Instagram. “I’ve been referenced in a South Park episode. I’m so scared.”
The episode, titled “The End of Obesity,” features a segment where character Sharon Marsh discusses her struggles with weight loss and new obesity medications. Marsh reveals her disappointment with not qualifying for certain weight-loss drugs, while the character’s dialogue sees her mockingly associate her lack of willpower with Lizzo.
As Lizzo watched, the satire intensified with a faux commercial promoting a fictional drug named after the singer. The ad humorously claims that “70% of patients on Lizzo no longer care about how much they weigh” and “allows users to eat everything they want.” Startled, Lizzo exclaimed, “That’s crazy,” before laughing it off.
After stopping the clip, she mused, “I just feel like, damn, ‘I’m really that b***h.” Showing her resilience, she said, “I really showed the world how to love yourself and not give a fk to a point where these men in Colorado know who the fk I am.”
Lizzo’s fans also responded energetically, with one commenting, “THAT WAS BRUTAL,” and another praising her for taking it “like a queen.”
Amidst all this, Lizzo is currently facing a lawsuit filed by ex-dancers alleging fat-shaming and harassment, which she has vehemently denied. The singer maintains that the allegations are false and stated she would never criticise or terminate an employee based on their weight.
