Mother’s Day is this Sunday and you’ve left it too late again. But don’t worry we’ve got you covered with some last minute suggestions that you can pick up on the way around to see her.

Flowers That Last

The flower shops are already sold out of her favourites so go with something a little different. These creations from LEGO can be picked up at a steal and offer a chance to connect with your Mum by building them together or keep her entertained during the week. After all, LEGO is basically just a really big puzzle so there’s nothing better than sitting down at the table and building a set all together. I’m not talking about castles or pirate ships either, these classy additions are a perfect gift to say thanks.

Cherry Blossums, Typewriter with Flowers, Mini Orchids or the huge Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet range from $23 up to $99 depending on sales. The Typewriter stands out especially as a 3 in 1 build so you have 3 different models to choose in one set.

Handmade with Love – Wooden Letter Tiles

Use wooden tiles to create bespoke, heartfelt pieces such as photo frames or wall art. It’s a meaningful way to spell out just how much Mum means to you with a gift that’s made to last. The best thing is you can pick everything you need to do this from Bunnings, Spotlight or Officeworks.

What you’ll need:

  • A plain photo frame (ensure the frame edges are wide enough to stick letter tiles)
  • Wooden letter tiles
  • Gorilla Glue Super Glue Gel
  • Optional: paint or decorations for extra flair

How to make it:

  • Start by painting or decorating your frame if desired. Let it dry completely before moving on
  • Plan your message by laying out the wooden tiles along the frame to ensure spacing looks right
  • Once you’re happy with the layout, apply a small amount of Gorilla Glue Super Glue Gel to the back of each tile and press it onto the frame
  • Let the glue set fully, following the instructions on the pack
  • Add a printed photo and wrap it up as a thoughtful gift that Mum will cherish

These are just some ideas that make you look like you’ve put more thought in than you did. Alternatively you could pick up those half wilted flowers from the servo on the way there, Mum won’t care, she’ll just be super happy to see you no matter what.
