October is Mental Health Month, a significant time in the calendar. Both Mental Health Week (10-17 October) and World Mental Health Day (October 10th) shine an important light on mental health and suicide prevention nationally and globally.
Mental Health month offers an opportunity for all of us to do something life-affirming. As individuals, to take concrete actions in support of our own mental health, to support colleagues, friends and family who are struggling; and as employers, to take steps towards creating suicide safe workplaces.
Here in the Riverland, Mental Health week means a bunch of local activities and online sessions provided by services like Headspace in Berri.
Local events include the headspace Berri Scavenger Hunt, Letters to Blue, and an incredibly interesting Soundwalk program in Barmera.
There are also online zoom and social media takeover activities as well.
