SA border restrictions are set to get even tighter from tonight, with only South Australians coming home and essential travellers allowed into the state from midnight tonight.
The move follows NSW closing their border with Victoria, in response to a significant increase in COVID-19 cases in Melbourne.
Speaking yesterday SA Police Commissioner Grant Stevens said extra resources will be sent to patrol the border with some roads to be physically blocked.
Currently there is around 45 unsealed roads and 20 sealed roads crossing the SA/VIC border with some located locally including major highways such as the Sturt Highway crossing at Yamba.
Defence force support is being considered.
