Australia’s peak industry body for vegetable and potato growers, AUSVEG, has welcomed the Federal Government’s appointment of Deputy Nationals LeaderDavidLittleproudas the new Minister for Agriculture.
AUSVEG CEO James Whiteside said “On behalf of the vegetable and potato industries, AUSVEG welcomesDavidLittleproud’s return as the Federal Agriculture Minister. Given MinisterLittleproud’s past involvement in the agriculture portfolio, as well as his strong track record for effective advocacy for our industries, we are glad to welcome him back to the role and look forward to working closely alongside him and all members of the Government to ensure Australia’s vegetable and potato growers can be productive, profitable and competitive,”
The return for Minister Littleproud comes about following Senator Bridgette McKenzie’s resignation.
As a part of the reshuffle Minister Littleproud hands over the water portfolio to the Member for Hinkler, Keith Pitt, a seat which absorbs much of Queensland’s coastal area near Bundaberg and Hervey Bay.
In what could be seen as an interesting observation for some Riverland residents the new Minister for water’s seat is outside the Murray-Darling Basin.
