As students head back to the classroom for term three this morning, Riverland police will be out conducting a highly visible road safety operation focused on keeping students safe.

For the first time Operation Return to School will run for two days to cater for a staggered return to school and to reinforce the crucial safety message.

Superintendent Bob Gray, the officer in charge of the traffic support branch said the operation will take place state-wide, with police particularly being active around both metropolitan and rural schools during key drop off and pick up times.
