Wine Australia’s National Vintage Report for 2019, released yesterday has re-affirmed the Riverland’s importance to the Australian wine industry.
The report shows the Australian crush for 2019 is estimated to be 1.73 million tonnes, just one per cent below the 10-year average.
While some wine regions were down on yields The report showed regions like the Riverland had very similar to the year previous, demonstrating the ability of managed irrigation.
WineAustralia Chief Executive Officer Andreas Clark described the announcement as welcome news for the sector.
On average the Riverland contributes over 400,000 to the Annual wine grape crush.
