The Riverland is mourning the loss of David Ruston, - one of the regions most decorated citizens.
Mr Ruston was born in 1930 and became an icon of the rose industry, establishing the southern hemisphere’s largest privately owned rose garden in Renmark.
Kelvin Trimper, former president of the world federation of rose societies described Mr Ruston as a “world rose industry legend”
In 1984 Mr Ruston received an order of Australia medal for services to horticulture.
Mr Ruston passed away Sunday aged 89.
