Taking firewood from national parks is illegal and can see equipment seized by park rangers.
As well as the seizure of equipment individuals can face fines of up to $1000.
Dead trees and fallen branches provide vital habitat for a range of native species, including birds, possums, reptiles, insects and even other plants and fungi.
