A man from Truro caught illegally fishing in near Loxton has been fined nearly $6000 for his actions.
The man from Truro was handed down a fine of $5,900 for taking 39 callop near Loxton in June last year.
Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development Tim Whetstone said the offender was detected and caught by PIRSA Fisheries Officers while on patrol.
The man’s haul of 39 was well over the daily bag limit of 5 and Minister Whetstone said This conviction demonstrates if you choose to deliberately do the wrong thing and break the rules, you will be caught and face hefty fines.
