Senate candidate Rikki Lambert has called for the Murray-Darling Basin Authority to be relocated from Canberra to the Riverland, as part of its decentralisation
agenda.

Mr Lambert says the region’s reliance on the River Murray and its proximity to NSW and Victoria make it an ideal choice

A former Riverlander, Mr Lambert also said the Riverland was sufficiently removed from the ‘Gepps Cross to the tollgate’ mentality also present in Adelaide.

Currently, around 10 per cent of the MDBA staff are located in river communities.
