Today is the last day for Riverland residents to get their votes in for Local Government elections.

Votes are usually returned via post for Local Government however a last minute option for today is for voters to return their voting pack to their local council office and drop it in the ballot box today.

For a vote to be counted it must be in the ballot box by 5pm today as no votes are allowed to be accepted after this deadline.

Council elections are the biggest single voluntary civic participation activity in the state with nearly 360,000 peoplevoting in the 2014 council elections.

Counting in elections starts Saturday at 9am.
