National frogID week starts today and the Australian museum is calling for Riverlanders to keep an ear out for frog noises and record them with a new app.
The FrogID app plays a vital part in research as well as a tool to gauge a snapshot of frog populations across Australia.
Frogs to keep an eye out for locally include the Southern Bell Frogwhich is now in the Vulnerable category as well as the Spencer Burrowing Frog.
Dr Jodi Rowley, Australian Museum Curator of Amphibian & Reptile Conservation Biology, said public help during FrogID Week was vital to collect all the information scientists need to track the health of Australian frog populations.
