The State Government has announced water will be released to the Coorong and Lower Lakes throughout October to support the River Murray’s natural environment during the warmer months.

Up to 100 gigalitres, mainly from the Goulburn River in Victoria, will be delivered to South Australia specifically to improve fish access through barrages, habitats for migratory wader birds and encourage the southern bell frog, threatened fish and bird breeding over the spring.

The additional flows will also help to flush salt from the system.
