Bookmark Creek Action Group have secured $40, 000 worth of state backing for two separate projects under the Fund My Project subsidy announced by Senator Anne Ruston yesterday.
The action group will use $20, 000 to clear the part of the waterway linking to the existing Bookmark Canoe Trail, allowing for more recreational and educational use by the community.
The other $20, 000 will be used to construct a signed viewing platform overlooking wetlands along the Bookmark Creek walking trail in Renmark.
Murtho company Canoe the Riverland was also successful in winning funding and will install interpretive signage along their frequently visited routes to help educate visitors about the wetlands. Canoe the Riverland will also install a bird hide so visitors can watch nature for themselves.
