Retried AFL Player, and former Riverland Footballer Sam Fisher has applied for bail in a Melbourne Court.

Last month the former St Kilda defender was arrested in Melbourne, with police alleging the 39-year-old organised for a parcel containing methylamphetamine and cocaine to be sent from Melbourne to Perth.

The arrest came as quite the shock to many in the Riverland football community, with many recalling the raw talent he displayed as a junior in the Riverland Football League.

After focusing on Golf, Fisher was selected at pick 55 in the 2003 national draft aged 21, to then play over 200 games at AFL level for St Kilda.

A call on Fisher’s bail request was delayed until next week.
