More funding is up for grabs for local organisations and irrigators to undertake Murray-Darling basin off-farm water efficiency grants.

Federal Water Minister Keith Pitt said the $150 Million dollar program will generate water savings for the environment while also making more usable water available to farmers.

Minister Pitt added "they’ve put an end to water buybacks and we’re putting communities back at the heart of Basin Plan implementation.

For projects to be eligible they must produce a positive or socio economic benefit for the region, and must pass relevant testing and consultation.

More on the program can be found here.
