In a move that's seen to provide guidance and shape local football SANFL are currently seeking nominations for the first Riverland, Murray & Mallee Regional Council.
The Council will act in an advisory role to SANFL’s community football committee, with a similar council already running in the states South-East.
Recently a meeting was held in Lameroo that attracted club officials from all Riverland, Mallee & River Murray Football league clubs to discuss several issues impacting local Football, including player retention and club sustainability.
Nominations for the new regional football council can be made via the SANFL website and close on the 1st of November.
Also in Riverland football news both Brown’s Well and Blanchetown Swan-Reach(B.S.R) have appointed senior coaches for next years Riverland Independent Football season.
Brown’s Well sees Aaron Bullard hake the helm, while B.S.R has appointed Alan Harvey.
Bullard's appointment at Brown's Well follows a tough season for the Bombers, with the club having for forfeit one match due to low player numbers.
Prior to the most recent season meetings were held by the club with the call was made to participate, after some suggestion the club may have gone into recess.
Harvey's appointment at B.S.R follows several coaching roles in both county and metropolitan football.
The pro-active nature of the clubs is in contrary to some opinion in local football circles that have questioned the sustainability of regions second Football competition.
