TWO ARRESTED IN RENMARK AFTER ALLEGED BORDER BREACH

Two people have been arrested after a Victorian truck driver allegedly attempted to smuggle his girlfriend into South Australia hidden in a B-Double truck.

Last Friday the truck passed the Yamba checkpoint after travelling from NSW with the driver having permission to enter South Australia.

Following a tip off from the public, Police stopped the truck in Renmark with Further checks allegedly finding the truck drivers girlfriend was hiding in the rear sleeper cabin and did not have permission to enter the state.

the 38 year-old Victorian truckie was arrested and charged with aiding and abetting, with the passenger a woman from angle park was arrested and charged with breaching the Emergency Management Act.

Both were covid tested and returned negative results, the pair will appear in court today.
