Planning for local environmental watering is now well underway for events to take place this coming financial year.

The events include the potential of environmental watering at Chowilla, Pike and Katarapko floodplains and weir raising at Locks 6, 5, 4 and 2.

Department of Environment & Water Manager, Environmental Water, Tony Herbert, said the potential operations at the three floodplains and weirs will depend on river conditions including flow and water quality, as well as the availability of water for the environment and approvals.

Mr Herbert Added watering events are planned to achieve a range of ecological benefits for floodplain and wetland vegetation and wildlife.

Further details will be released prior to watering events.
