A free trade deal between the UK & Australia last week could be as a winner for local producers, according to a local MP.
Speaking last week local Federal MP Tony Pasin said that farmers and agricultural workers in Barker were big winners in the Australia-UK Free Trade Agreement
The in-principal trade deal sees a number of tariffs removed, however also sees British backpackers now longer needing to work in rural Australia to secure longer visas, something of concern to Agricultural industry.
In response to this the federal government has introduced a new Ag Visa, open to a number of nations running in conjunction with the seasonal worker program and pacific island labour scheme visa.
