Sydney siege ends with three arrested

A gunman has been taken into custody in a dramatic arrest following a crime spree and police pursuit in western Sydney.

Special police were called in to end a stand-off between officers and three men at a Blacktown home on Friday afternoon, with the trio arrested shortly after.

Two days earlier one of the men, a motorcyclist, had allegedly robbed a motorist at gunpoint on Griffith St and threatened staff at a Blacktown Rd restaurant. Police alleged he also smashed a man's windscreen with a firearm butt in a road rage attack on Sunnyholt Rd on Thursday.

Officers tried to stop the man's motorcycle on St Martins Crescent about 1pm on Friday but he drove off, sparking several pursuits that police aborted.

However, officers received information that sent them to a Turner St property, where the man was eventually arrested.

He is due to face the Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday charged with nine offences including armed robbery, threatening with intent, and two counts of police pursuit.

The two men with him were released pending inquiries.
