'Inmate relationship', NSW officer charged

A prison worker has been charged over an alleged relationship with an inmate in NSW's southern highlands.

An investigation into a 34-year-old man at Berrima Correctional Centre began in April after it was suspected the overseer employed at the centre was involved with a 35-year-old female prisoner.

The man was arrested at a home in Mount Annan on Friday and has been charged with engaging in relationship with inmate, causing safety risk to correctional centre.

He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear before Moss Vale Local Court on July 2.
