Police are "appalled" at the reckless behaviour of drink driving "idiots" after several were busted across the Northern Territory overnight.
In Darwin, eight men and a woman were arrested in the 24-hour period to 9.30am on Thursday for being caught boozed up and behind the wheel.
Seven were at least twice the legal blood alcohol limit of 0.05, while the 51-year-old woman blew 0.277, or almost six times over.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old man who was allegedly caught doing burnouts around Alice Springs was charged with drink driving, reckless, drunk and unlicensed driving in an unregistered, uninsured and unroadworthy car.
The driver sped away from police several times while hooning throughout the night but was eventually apprehended when his car broke down.
"These idiots... have clearly shown they do not care about the safety and wellbeing of other road users," Senior Sergeant Serge Bouma said.
"This sort of behaviour infuriates me and it should infuriate everyone... enough's enough."
