Wine grape harvest decline

As the regions wine industry faces an uncertain path, a report released this week has outlined a significant vintage decline.

Wine Australia’s 2023 vintage report released yesterday revealed the national harvest as a whole was 26% below the 10 year average – the lowest overall since the year 2000.

Growing conditions were behind some of the drop, however market conditions for inland wine regions such as the Riverland saw a number of vines unharvested.

Overall the Riverland produced over 60% of the state’s annual crush, however was over 100,000 tonnes less than the 2022 vintage.
