The SES has made moves to ensure locals are aware of River Murray flows and levels.

Since the 14th of July a ‘High Flow’ advice has been in place, after flows rose from 42G/L to now sit near 52G/L per day to SA.

Chris Beattie, Chief Officer of the SES reminded people to take safety precautions when recreating in or around the River Murray and to never drive through floodwaters.

Mr Beattie added further “It is important people take care when swimming or boating on the river with faster water and increased debris causing potential hazards.

Chrissie Bloss, DEW Water Delivery Manager said the peak water flow for the event would reach the SA border in the first week of September and pass over Lock 1 around two weeks later.

Ms Bloss added “While the current flow and water levels are considered a ‘high flow’, it’s not unusual to see these levels in winter and spring, when the Murray catchment receives the bulk of its rainfall.’’
