A number of Riverland petrol stations have been fined, after inspectors found they were not meeting their real-time pricing obligations.

Fuel outlets must report any price or availability change within 30 minutes to the central database.

A recent compliance blitz found nine sites across the state were non-complaint, with two of those being in the Riverland.

They included the Ampol Renmark Depot & United Berri who both had one type of fuel unavailable.

The Karoonda Fuel Stop was also listed for failing to report fuel being unavailable.

Minister for Consumer and Business Affairs, Micheal Brown said it was unacceptable for petrol stations to mislead people by failing to comply with real-time petrol price monitoring.

“We are taking a zero-tolerance approach – naming and shaming those who fail to meet their obligations” Said Mr Brown.

“Recruitment for additional inspectors is underway and when Parliament resumes next week, we will be introducing new legislation to significantly increase penalties”.

In total, the recent blitz saw fines totalling nearly $8000.
