A retired Riverland Police officer charged with a child sex offence will return to court early next year.
The 71-year-old man was due to front the Berri Magistrates Court this week, however a last minute legal move saw him appear via phone from an Adelaide legal office.
He was arrested in June, charged with one count of communicating to make a child amenable to sexual activity.
His identity had been the subject of a suppression order, however has since been lifted.
The matter returns to court in February.
