Rates on the rise for Renmark-Paringa

Cost pressures, together with lingering flood recovery efforts are said to be some of the reasoning behind proposed rate increases for Renmark-Paringa Council ratepayers.

Council’s draft Annual Business Plan & Budget surfaced this week, revealing a proposed rate increase of over 11%, equating to nearly $150 more per average residential property per year.

A tweak to how wastewater costings are recovered also sees an increase of 43%.

In response to the current financial position, council has outlined cutbacks to capital projects, as well as community grant funding.

Community consultation remains open for the Budget and Business plan until mid-July.
