Questions remain over Truro Bypass

The Truro community is said to still be in shock, following the call Federal funding had been cut for the Sturt Highway bypass project.

As it stands trucks travel though the town’s main street as part of the Sturt Highway, seen to present many risks.

Speaking recently Mid Murray Council Mayor, Simone Bailey said “council and the Truro community have been advocating for the construction of a heavy vehicle bypass for many years after several worrying truck crashes and near-misses in the town’s main street”.

Just last month the Truro township master plan was adopted by council, which outlined the town’s future once the bypass had been installed.

On that point, Mayor Bailey said “Council will also consider how we can act on the Truro Township Master Plan to ensure we keep working towards the community’s vision for a positive and vibrant future for Truro”.
