Amid temperatures well into the 40’s, local firefighters have spent four days responding to multiple fires burning on Katarapko Island, around 11km south-west of Berri.
Crews were first called last Thursday, and has since burnt nearly 300 hectares.
Local crews have been supported by Arial fighting units along with the department of environment and water who provided a barge to transport equipment across the River Murray.
Whilst emergency services remain working in the area, houseboats and recreational watercraft are advised to stay away to help keep everyone safe and allow emergency crews to work without interruption.
The latest fire information can be found via the CFS website.
