There’s been a boost to the locally used Patient Assistant Transport Scheme, known by many as ‘PATS’.
The expansion now provides patients with financial support to travel to specialist Prosthetic and Orthotic clinics for health appointments.
Those eligible are able to claim a rebate of 32c per kilometre, meaning a tip from Renmark to the Royal Adelaide Hospital & return would see a rebate of $160.
PATS has five offices located in regional SA hospitals including Mount Gambier, Berri, Port Augusta, Whyalla and Port Lincoln.
State Health Minister, Chris Picton said “PATS delivers really important financial assistance to thousands of South Australians in regional and rural areas each year for medical appointments”
