Two local RSL sub branches have secured further federal funding, something welcomed by many within the community.

Under the Federal Government’s ‘Saluting their Service’ Grant Program the Renmark & Waikerie RSL sub-branches will soon undertake commemorative projects with the funds.

Renmark RSL will receive $6,150 to install two commemorative bench seats at the Cross of Sacrifice. While at Waikerie a $2500 grant has been awarded to install a medal display board.

Local Federal MP Tony Pasin said RSLs were an important part of many communities around the country and it was great to see Riverland organisations actively pursuing projects of commemoration.

“I congratulate both organisations who are ensuring Riverland communities continue to honour the service and sacrifice of our veterans. Our nation owes a debt of gratitude to our returned service men and women, not only for their service during times of conflict, but the ongoing contribution to supporting Veterans and our community through the RSL,” Mr Pasin said.
