Local member for Barker, Tony Pasin has again called for greater investment for the regional road network.

Those calls have been compounded by further calls for road safety data to be released more openly, something several organisations say is key to lowering road trauma.

Mr Pasin said “Following a decade of declining road toll, deaths on our roads have been steadily increasing over the past two years and Australia finds itself edging further and further away from the goal of halving road deaths by 2030,”

“Labor’s failure to facilitate the timely, consistent, and open reporting of national road safety data after almost two years in government is preventing Australia from quantifying its road safety problem, developing evidence-based responses, or evaluating their effectiveness.” said Mr Pasin.

A national road survey led by the local member, who’s also the Shadow Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Transport remains open for local comments.
