There’s still a long road ahead for the regions wine industry, as the latest export report shows another decline.
The Riverland is Australia’s largest wine producing region by volume, and sees a large amount exported.
Wine Australia’s latest export record showed an overall decline by 7% in value, and 1% in volume in the year ending March 31st.
A drop in the UK market was behind some of the drop, with Wine Australia Manager, Market Insights Peter Bailey saying “In traditional markets for Australian wine, the decline in the demand for wine is being felt the most in lower price segments while premium wine is still finding growth”
