Moves are being made to keep on top of Fruit Fly, with proactive measures now being undertaken in Adelaide.
While there’s no outbreaks currently in Adelaide, teams from PIRSA are currently tackling nearly 50 outbreak zones in the Riverland.
The proactive measures in Adelaide, include 36 million sterile insects being released, similar to what has been happing in the Riverland for some time.
Nick Secomb, Director Plant and Invasive Species Biosecurity at PIRSA said “With the fruit fly eradication response program still going in the Riverland, this preventative SIT release across Adelaide will help make sure we won’t have fruit fly moving into Adelaide’s back yards.
