Dramatic set of events sees Monash arrests

Two arrests have been made in Monash, following a series of incidents Sunday evening.

Just prior to 7pm Riverland Police were called to Lowbank Road at Kanni following reports of trespassers in a vehicle on a property.

Owners of the property South of Waikerie located a Red sedan, parked between sheds on the property. When approached the suspects drove off at high speeds leaving what Police say was a trail of destruction.

After travelling some distance it’s alleged the suspects conducted a 180-degree turn and drove directly at the vehicle containing the occupants of the property, while The vehicle narrowly missed the victims the Subaru was then seen travelling towards the Sturt Highway.

A short time later a sighting of the car at the intersection of Loveday Road and Sturt Highway at Cobdogla saw Police attempt to stop the car, however the vehicle and occupants refused to stop and took off from Police at speed. 

Then just after 8pm the car was seen on Santos Road at Monash, where it then travelled into scrubland. A search then located the occupants who were both arrested, while the vehicle was located around 500 metres away on fire.

The 35-year-old man from Berri, who Police will allege was the driver was charged with Unlawfully on premises, property damage, aggravated acts likely to cause harm, fail to stop upon request of police, drive disqualified and possess a controlled drug.

The 28-year-old woman from Valley View, the passenger in the Subaru was charged with unlawfully on premises and property damage.

They’re both expected to face court today.
