Blue Green Algae Coming Down River Murray

Water in South Australia’s River Murray may be cloudier and possibly smellier than usual in the coming days.

An environmental water release from Menindee Lakes in New South Wales is underway.

Blue-green algae in the lower Darling River is expected to be flushed into our river system and could have some impact on water quality as a result.

The Environment Department says it is mainly non-toxic but they are working with the Basin Authority on strategies to improve water quality.
