Unveiling of the WWII Avro Anson Crash Memorial at Loxton
Sun 20 Sep 2020 02:00 pm to 04:00 pm
In September 1943, during a night training exercise from Nhill, a tragic crash of an Avro Anson occurred at Noora, east of Loxton. The crash killed all four crew members.
Loxton community volunteers will shortly complete a permanent memorial to the loss of the crew, having undertaken the construction a quarter size scale model of the crashed Avro atop a five-metre tower. The memorial will be located at the Mill Corner precinct, adjacent the Loxton Oval, at the northern entrance to Loxton.
RSA Club members and the general public are invited to join in the opening of the memorial to commemorate those who gave their lives in service of our country. The service will commence at 2:30pm, Sunday September 20.
