A forum will be held tonight in Berri, as concerns escalate over the SA’s bird flu situation.

Set to be held at the Berri Hotel from 6pm, the event will see a number of experts on hand to share the latest information on animal, human and environmental health considerations.

The local event forms part of a series of discussions held by PIRSA, and allows community members to ask questions to better understand the situation.

Chief Veterinary Officer, Dr Skye Fruean said These community forums are a wonderful opportunity for the community to find out more about H5 bird flu and how they can help protect our birdlife and other susceptible animals as best as possible.

For now no bird flu detections have been made in the Riverland, however locals who see sick or dead birds are urged to report it to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.

Registrations for tonight’s forum are essential, and can be made via Birdflu.sa.gov.au.
